- Place items you will be using during your morning quiet time(although anytime you get time to just be still is a great time) together the night before.
- Read a segment of what you will be reading during your quiet time before you go to bed - this is a good idea, especially if your morning quiet time is limited. If you read the passage the night before, you can use your quiet time contemplating what you have read.

- Use a basket for holding your quiet time items if you do not have a room or space you can use for quiet time.
- Some great and necessary items for your basket are: pens/pencils, study or devotional bible, Mother's devotional or another devotional book, journal and notebooks, Bible concordances and/or bible dictionary, prayer cards or a prayer list, quiet worship music to help set the tone, kleenex (for those times when what God says to you makes you cry or laugh until the tears start rolling).
- Talk to others about your quiet time, specifically what you heard God say to you through the passage that you have read.
- Journal before, during and/or after your quiet time.

- If you miss your quiet time in the morning, then just do it later. If you continually miss your quiet time, you need to ask yourself "Why do I have quiet time" and then look to see if maybe the time that you have available is not the best time for a quiet time - seek God's heart and see if He can suggest a better time to come to Him.
- Allow no interruptions at all. This especially applies to children. Train them to leave you alone during your quiet time.
- Avoid having quiet time in an area of the house associated with conflict and noise, even when your scheduled quiet time does not occur at that time. The overall atmosphere affects you. Keeping that in mind, keep the area that your use for your quiet time clean at ALL times, even when you are not using the area for your quiet time. If you keep the area clean, then you can more clearly focus on your quiet time, rather than thinking things like "boy this area needs to be vacuumed" or "there sure is lots of dust in here". If we allow our minds to be focused on the mess, we will not be able to focus on what God is trying to say to us
